It works inside Orchestral Tools Capsule for Kontakt/Kontakt Player, which has a very advanced articulation management scheme that perhaps merits an article of its own. There are 18 sections/instruments with 160 GB of 24 bit/48k samples, are arranged into “Districts” in keeping with the 1927 epic science fiction film that it is named after.ĭistrict 1- Orchestra- strings, woodwinds, and brass.ĭistrict 4 – Band- electric guitars, electric bass, and drumset. It includes high and low strings high and low choirs bassoons and contrabassoons trumpets, trombones, cimbassi, tubas and a smaller and a larger section of french horns percussion and piano a guitar ensemble with left and right separate instruments, electric bass, and a drum kit. There is one vision and everything is built around it: Special sections like 4 Contra Bassoons playing in unison, a Bass Trombone Ensemble, a Cimbasso Ensemble or 12 Basses + 6 Celli playing together in octaves. It was recorded in Berlin’s Teldex studio, a wonderful sounding venue.
Metropolis Ark 1 a Kontakt based library that is specifically designed to give you HUGE sounds for epic style music. K ally as Edna 1 she w r- d as one of the prr bareback riders of 1 tim bi v perfo 'ili many circuses, Including Sells -Hoi Lemmon Bios Collmer John. I generally prefer libraries that are pretty dry without a dominant venue sound because it is easier to mix and match them.Īnd yet, I tell you this is a terrific sounding library, as you will hear in the demos on the Orchestral Tools website. As a trained composer in the classical tradition, I don’t like or often use libraries with pre-assembled combinations of instruments.I don’t much like, nor do I get hired to write, the style of trailer/library music generally referred to as “epic.”.(Apparently, some might view this as being cheap) P.S I think that the eDNA synth engine in Albion one is a nice asset over Metropolis Ark. I think Metropolis Ark sounds better in this video, more clearer and upfront, but not enough to justify the purchase as I'd rather just purchase a different library from Orchestral Tools instead. Didn't crucially need the others, and the overlap was significant imo. I was quite happy with Legacy and the Evos 2, 3, and 4. Albion One and Evo 1 remain my main SA regret-purchases.
You are about to read a positive review from me about a product that in theory I should not like. I am somewhat notorious for writing many times in forum discussions that: I have Albion One, but was considering Metropolis Ark. That said, Albion One is a really good sketch tool and I can see why folks, especially novices, would certainly benefit from having it.
